Segerstrom Fundamental High School KIWINS

March 9, 2009

The Kiwanis Club of Santa Ana is pleased to present this Letter of Recommendation to the Segerstrom KIWINS.

They are an outstanding club.  Their participation in community programs and on campus events is extraordinary.  They excel academically, participate in school sports programs and continue to lead in service.  This year they have been actively involved in:

           Surf
City Marathon – worked to set up and take down the course with 33 members working a total of 330 community service hours.

Rose Float Decoration – 20 members went to Pasadena to cut and paste flowers on floats and do other work there for 240 hours of service.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk at UCI – 36 members raised funds and walked.  144 community service hours.

Coastal Clean Up Project – 25 members helped clean up the coast along the Santa Ana River.  100 community service hours.

Huntington Beach Duckathon – 21 members released and retrieved rubber ducks in this public fundraiser.  74 community service hours.

The Segerstrom KIWINS have raised funds on campus by operating the lunch cart for the week allocated.  This is the only fund raising activity permitted on campus for the clubs.  They hope to get additional weeks.

So far this year they have held 5 social events for members to bond together and have fun.  They are a very strong club of 90 members.

They deserve recognition!

Respectfully submitted,
Robert H. Stopher
